Your Personal Story

Who are you?

My name is André, I’m 39 years old, born in Stralsund. I grew up in Rostock, and when I was 16 years old, I moved to Hamburg to become a freight forwarder. After more than 20 years in the shipping and logistics industry, recently in the heavy lift and project cargo sector, I’m happy to be back in Rostock. I have a ten-year-old daughter, and besides my work and hobbies, she is my anchor and makes this busy world a beautiful place for me.

How do you spend your free time?

My free time is limited. I like the beach and the ocean; luckily, we have the Baltic Sea right around the corner. Therefore my hobbies are very ocean-related. Walking across the seaside during the winter months, surfing, and swimming in the summertime are my favorite things to do. I also like listening to music, reading books and watching movies like “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”.

Your Professional Story

How did you find out about FleetMon?

I was looking for a new opportunity as I moved back from Hamburg to my hometown Rostock and I wanted to do something different than shipping and logistics. And once I saw the recruiting advertisement from JAKOTA, I thought it might be a perfect match as it is something new within IT/Software and data services but still within the global shipping and logistics industry. Now I’m working in the Sales and Controlling Team.

How does a typical working day look like for you at FleetMon?

My day starts with a coffee and a banana. After that, I check the bank account, create invoices, and do follow-ups on outstanding payments. Discussing client-related topics with my colleagues from the Sales Department is also one of my daily to-dos. And I try to support my colleagues as much as I can.

What do you enjoy most about your work so far?

Everything. This is not a joke. I am happy about the new challenges that await me every day at FleetMon. We are a company with flat hierarchies, a cooperative working climate, and a lot of fun.

Would you recommend FleetMon as an employer?

Yes! I can say I have the best colleagues and we have the best view from our office – right across the Warnow river.
