FleetMon Maritime Gallery January 2022
in Community by Stephanie Duscha
Welcome to our first edition for 2022 of the FleetMon Maritime Gallery. Each month, you’ll find a special section on our blog featuring the Best Maritime Photos in a certain category. You’ll not only get to view the most popular photos being voted by our community. We also present special shots which are less noted but in the same way extraordinary.
January is about the unpredictability of the weather. We show you ships struggling through foggy evenings, waiting for their cargo on cloudy nights, and vessels sailing under bright rainbows.
Enjoy the most beautiful weather-themed shots taken by ship spotters from our community on FleetMon.com.
To all our ship spotters out there: We truly appreciate your work. Keep it up, guys!
KAISHUU by Lotse1967

Let’s start with this stunning shot of KAISHUU by our ship spotter Lotse1967. It shows the dredger in the early morning of Sep 14, 2021. While the sun is just rising in the background, the ship is almost completely shrouded in fog. Ship spotter Lotse1967, being a member of the FleetMon community since 2011 and soon having 10,000 photos available, writes ironically: “… with a little bit of fog.”
OELLERMANN by FUZZY01

This shot was also taken early in the morning. German ship spotter Fuzzy01 caught OELLERMANN at full speed shortly after 8 a.m. on June 21, 2021. Due to the morning fog, a container ship can hardly be seen in the background of the Port Tender. Apparently, it has left the harbor and is now making its way to the ocean. By the way, ship spotter Fuzzy01 is also a long-time member of our community. He has been providing us with ship photos since 2013.
DANDUN by RV1705

The early bird catches the worm. And this impressive snapshot of DANDUN proves it. As early as 5:30 am on May 31, 2021, German ship spotter RV1705 captured this beautiful scene. It shows the general cargo vessel crossing the Kiel Canal from east to west. There is a light fog on the water, so we can still see the ship’s reflection. Quiet and peaceful. Ship spotter RV1705 has been a member since 2008 and has almost uploaded 3,000 photos.
AMORGOS BOLTEN by bassheiner

What a gray and dark day. Shortly before noon, German ship spotter bassheiner photographs ARMORGOS BOLTEN on Nov 1, 2021, in the port of Bremen. The dark gray clouds are reflected in the smooth water of the harbor basin and become almost one with the black of the bulk carrier. Only the white bridge shines in the dark scenery. Ship Spotter bassheiner is one of our most active community members. Since 2013 he has provided nearly 7,500 ship photos.
RADIANCE OF THE SEAS by tony.m

This is what paradise looks like! Our Australian ship spotter tony.m took this wonderful picture of the RADIANCE OF THE SEAS on April 14, 2016. The cruise ship is anchored on the idyllic island of Moorea in the South Pacific. In the background, you can see a lush green mountain range and a glowing rainbow. We thank tony.m, who has been part of the FleetMon community since 2020 and has already uploaded almost 150 photos to his profile.
We’re ready for vacation now!
My Photobox Special:
Each month, we’ll additionally feature extraordinary photos found in the “My Photobox” of the FleetMon team members. Have a closer look at this rescue vessel fighting its way through the stormy North Sea. What an impressive shot, isn’t it? Thai ship spotter Pattaya has been at the right time at the right place.
