International Women’s Day 2023: Celebrating Women’s Achievements in the Maritime Industry
in Updates, Press by Stephanie DuschaInternational Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8th, is a day to honor women’s achievements and to support gender equality and gender justice. This year’s theme set by the United Nations, “Each for Equal,” calls on everyone to work towards a gender-equal world for all.
At FleetMon, we are proud to have twelve women on our team – about half of them are in management positions.

As the world’s leading data company in vessel tracking, we have employees from around the globe and support gender equality and diversity in our workplace. We believe that a diverse workforce is necessary to achieve our goals and create an inclusive work environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
The theme of “Each for Equal” is particularly relevant for FleetMon, as we strive to ensure that women in our team have equal opportunities to succeed and grow in their careers. Despite the progress that has been made in recent years, women continue to face significant barriers in the workplace, particularly in male-dominated industries like maritime.
According to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), women comprise only 2% of the global maritime workforce. This startling statistic highlights the need for greater efforts to bring more women into the industry and empower them to pursue leadership roles. We are encouraged to see that the IMO has taken steps towards this goal by declaring March 18th as the annual International Day for Women in Maritime, starting in 2022.
At FleetMon, we are committed to doing our part to address these challenges and to support women in achieving their full potential. We recognize that the success of our business is directly linked to the diversity of our team, and we are proud to foster a workplace culture that values inclusivity and equality.
Thanks to everyone of you!
